Individuals with respiratory conditions like Asthma may find that massage aids in easing muscle tension around the chest and improves breathing patterns by encouraging better lung function.  Additionally, remedial massage supports recovery from injuries, relieves chronic muscle tension, reduces stress, and helps manage conditions like Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.

Overall, remedial massage is designed to address both acute injuries and long-term health challenges, making it a valuable therapy for anyone seeking pain relief, improved function, and enhanced quality of life.

  • We recommend loose comfortable clothing. A sheet is placed over your clothes during the massage treatment. To treat specific injuries the sheet may need to be removed to allow access to the body part being treated.

  • Whether sports or remedial massage is painful can vary depending on individual tolerance, the condition being treated, and the therapist’s technique.

Sports massage often involves deeper pressure to target specific muscle groups used in athletic activity.  This can sometimes cause discomfort during the session, especially if the muscles are tight or injured, but it should not be excessively painful. The aim is to alleviate tension, improve flexibility, and enhance recovery without causing harm.

Remedial massage focuses on treating musculoskeletal issues and may involve working into areas of tension or injury.  Some discomfort can occur when addressing knots or restricted tissues, but it should be manageable and temporary. Therapists typically adjust the pressure to suit the client’s comfort level and treatment goals.

In both types of massage, clear communication between the client and therapist helps ensure the pressure is appropriate and pain is minimised.  If the massage causes sharp or severe pain, it is important to inform the therapist immediately.
